Ellenore, a musty cemetery gray with desperate bits of blood red, iris, and fuchsia inspired by a romantic ballad, Lenore (or in some translations, Ellenore) written by Gottfried August Bürger in 1773.
This so-goth-it-burns spectral romance details one sleepless night in which an undead figure resembling Lenore’s fiancé, William, arrives on horseback for his beloved Lenore. They ride through a lightning storm during which William utters “die Todten reiten schnell,” a line Bram Stoker borrowed in his hit single, Dracula. They keep careening towards what Lenore believes is their marriage bed, only to end up in a cemetery where she faces supernatural and horrifying circumstances.
