Maria Sibylla Merian described (and illustrated) an earth-colored spider eating a hummingbird in Suriname in her 1705 work Metamorphosis Insectorum Surinamensium. She was mocked for it by the "experts" of the next century plus. In the 1860s a male naturalist confirmed that such a spider does exist during his studies in the Amazon, and Merian's research was finally accepted.Base: Ursula (Yak Sock) 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Yak; 10% Nylon; 437 yards / 100 grams
Price listed is per one (1) skein of yarn
All indie-dyed yarn works up differently depending on gauge, project size, and needle/hook size. Swatches are shown in yak sock base, from a previous dye batch, to give an average idea of the colorway.
Alternate skeins for large projects and hand wash in cool water for best results.
Indie-dyed project pro tips: Alternate skeins for large projects especially when combining skeins purchased at different times. Hand wash in cool water & dry flat.
