Baba Yaga is a grandmother witch from Slavic fairytales such as Vasilisa the Beautiful. While many tales portray her as a sinister witch, it can be argued that her origins and her independence from cultural norms also position her a source of wisdom and power as a mother earth figure, or even the Slavic version of Persephone.
This speckled colorway has earthen and forest hues contrasted with rich magentas and grays, echoing the duality of this fairytale figure.
Base: Brontë (Yak/Silk DK) 60% Superwash Merino / 20% Silk / 20% Yak. 231 yards per 100 grams.
Price listed is per one (1) skein of yarn.
All indie-dyed yarn works up differently depending on gauge, project size, and needle/hook size. Swatches are shown in sock base, from a previous dye batch, to give an average idea of the colorway.
Alternate skeins for large projects and hand wash in cool water for best results.
