Victorian Ghosts Countdown Reveal: Oct. 25-27

read along

October 25

"She looked thin and haggard still, and her face was deadly white; but the crimson lips looked like a hideous gash in the pale cheeks, and her eyes glared like red coals in the gloom of the church..."

The Tomb of Sarah (1910) by F.G. Loring is the Victorian Ghost Story and mini skein for October 25.

A church restoration disturbs an ancient ornate tomb. What could go wrong? A blood red mini skein streaked with darker hues is inspired by the Countess Sarah and her meal of choice.

October 26

"Mr Wilbraham’s man came in with many apologies, and explained briefly and quickly that an absurd mistake had been made, and that the wrong kit-bag had been sent over the night before."

The Kit-Bag by Algernon Blackwood (1908) is a borderline silly little horror story!

A mini skein resembling the luggage in question is the exclusive color; old canvas marred with the evidence from the scene of the crime.

October 27

“A light was sometimes seen dodging about its deep descending banks at night that no one could account for. A lively spot altogether for those who liked gloom.”

Reality or Delusion (1869) by Ellen Wood (or, Mrs. Henry Wood)

The mini skein color inspired by this atmospheric and creepy little tale features faded rose like the hair ribbons of the story's Harriet, with vintage silk mood and shadows of a seal-skin cap.
