The Lifted Veil - Vol. 2 of the Ghastly Yarn Club
Share
The second installment of the Ghastly yarn club, inspired by classic works of gothic horror, was inspired by George Eliot’s The Lifted Veil.
In this short but haunting tale first published in Blackwood’s magazine in 1859, our unreliable narrator Latimer shares his woes about being able to sense the future.
Most picturesque of these visions is his shockingly detailed premonition of Prague, a city he’s yet to visit. The pops of turquoise, blue black, and coral orange found in the city’s skyline also fueled the dyeing of this colorway, with a handmade stitch marker that hints at the strange medical experiments found later in the book after a doomed-to-fail romance. Earl Grey tea and a colorful Prague sticker round out this stormy spring club.
The Ghastly Yarn Club was released during the first six months of 2021 and was inspired by six classic works of gothic horror. Each month from January-June, a new title was revealed with an inspiration photo that, in conjunction with the book, guided a mystery colorway.
