The Robber Bridegroom, documented in literary form by Brothers Grimm
This dark tale of female revenge against patriarchy and a show of justice towards a psychopath is similar to the framing of 1001 Nights in the form of Scheherzade’s clever tales. The Grimms likely took influence from Perault’s Bluebeard, which was likely inspired by the true crime story of Gilles de Rais.
