Aladdin and the Magical Lamp, as told by Hanna Diyab
The tale of Aladdin was told to a frenchman by Hanna Diyab, with much lost in translation. Most notably, a trapped supernatural demon (jin) in French becomes a friendly helper (genie, from genius). Parts of the tale can be compared to descent myths across cultures, while the framing tale of Scheherazade using wit to avoid a serial killer husband can be linked to Bluebeard tales.
