Red Riding Hood, early literary form by Charles Perrault
In ancient oral tales reflecting real life tragedies of the werewolf trials, this story often featured werewolves, such as the version first recorded byEgbert of Liège. Collected across cultures by Perrault, Grimm, and Calvino, Perrault was the first to give the heroine a red hood, but his first version ends with the wolf eating the heroine.
