Shelley is an untreated (nonsuperwash) light worsted base in U.S. grown merino/rambouillet wool. The RWS Certified wool for this base comes from Shaniko ranches in the northwest U.S., and is processed and milled in North Carolina. The result is an unbelievably soft (and totally plastic-free) wool that blooms up magnificently during stitching. At 10 WPI, depending on your gauge you may be able to use this base as a DK.
A Note on Speckles & Colorways: Colorways are shown on superwash merino/nylon sock (Solnit) base for reference. The base you will receive, Shelley, accepts dyes with a more muted quality (acid dyes bond a little more aggressively to synthetics like superwash treatment and nylon). Some regular colorways are unavailable in nonsuperwash because they rely on high heat to achieve speckled results, and all speckles will be a little more graceful and subtle on this base.
